Nile Valley University
Nile Valley University is a Sudanese university located in northern Sudan. It was established within the framework of the higher education revolution decisions by a presidential decree issued on June 14, 1990. The Faculty of Engineering, established in 1971, and the Faculty of Education, established in 1984, formed the primary core of the university.
The university developed until the number of its faculties reached ten in 1991, distributed from the city of Wadi Halfa in the north to Shendi and Al-Matamma in the south. In 1994, the faculties were divided among three universities: Nile Valley University, Dongola University, and Shendi University. Nile Valley University’s share consisted of four faculties: Engineering, Education, Commerce and Business Administration, and Islamic and Arabic Sciences. In 1998, the number of faculties reached eight with the addition of four more: Agriculture, Sharia and Law, Medicine, and Teachers’ Education. Finally, the Faculty of Science and Technology, the Faculty of Community Development, the Faculty of the Holy Quran, and the Faculty of Graduate Studies were added.
The university also includes an Open Education unit and several research centers. Currently, the university comprises 13 faculties:

The university also includes the Deanship of Distance Education and the Deanship of Scientific Research and Publishing. The Secretariat of Scientific Affairs carries out scientific supervision and monitoring of the activities of the various university faculties. The university applies a yearly semester system, with the average semester duration being 16 weeks, and the academic year consists of two semesters.

Faculty of Graduate Studies
The Faculty of Graduate Studies was established as a unit in 1994 in the city of Atbara, with the aim of organizing and encouraging scientific research in coordination with the university’s faculties through the implementation of Higher Diploma programs in the humanities. As a result of the expansion and development of the graduate programs offered by the university and the increasing number of students, the unit evolved into a faculty in 2002. The faculty offers Master’s and PhD programs in coordination with specialized scientific committees in the various university faculties to implement and develop academic programs and add new programs that meet society’s needs in different disciplines according to total quality standards.
