Nearly all students today are using generative AI to prepare for classes, assist with assignments, and develop presentations. And in some cases, particularly with undergraduates, students are relying on AI to do the work for them, missing the opportunity to use it as a powerful learning accelerator.
Educators can guide students in the right direction and design courses and assignments that help them to embrace AI as a tool for deeper learning, research, and critical thinking. With faculty mentorship, AI has the potential to act as a tutor, research assistant, and learning guide for students.
In this webinar, Professor Mike Roberto will share practical strategies for integrating AI into the undergraduate classroom to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes. He’ll also demonstrate how he developed a custom AI chatbot to serve as a tutor for his students.

Key takeaways will include:

  • Coaching students to use AI effectively for research, concept clarification, and getting started with complex analyses.
  • Designing assignments that challenge students to go beyond AI-generated answers.
  • Helping students recognize the limitations and risks of AI in their research.
  • Incorporating AI tools into group activities and collaborative work.
  • Strategies for helping students understand how NOT to use AI in their academic work.
